Very unlikely to get any sort of meaningful consent from patients given the emergency nature of the consultation - may be scope with GP/OOH type work.

GMC have guidance on electronic taping of consultations on their website, as I recall.

Think there are also legitimate staff concerns about whether such material could be subpoenaed in court with regard to labour relations.

My personal opinion is that usefulness is far outweighed by all the cons - the advantage is that it can disprove the patient whose versions of a consultation varies from the para's recall - the courts being more likely to take the patient's version of events.

Thought-provoking though, esp. as we are considering how to best modify our training in view of evolving mary care focus of work.
