Okay, I can't seem to get the CVS checkout to build (under Linux) at all,
this is the 2nd time I've seen this error,

dastardly{aa}:

there defaintely isn't any old Starlink installs in the path as my star/
and stardev/ are symlinks to obscure places and I've deleted the symlinks.
