Members of the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures (University
of Edinburgh) are pleased to announce that the 6th Saintsbury colloquium
on "Text and Monument" will be held on 29th January 2005.
 
The speakers, specialists from several disciplines, will address a range
of related issues including the  following: thematic and formal
interaction between text and monument; text as inscription; text as
monument; monument as document; text, monument and commemoration;
textual and monumental tributes; the various functions of the fictional,
poetic or painted monument.

Conference fee: £20; £10 (postgraduate students)
The conference fee covers admission to the colloquium, coffees, lunch
and reception. The dinner will be charged separately (approximate cost
£30 per head), and must be paid for at the time of registration.
