Hi Mandy, I am not entirely happy with the arrangements. I am trying to insist, with the authority of my director, that a member of the academic staff (obviously not one of the plumbing teachers) marks the papers but there are grumblings about it. No decision has been made as yet what will happen if any vivas have to be carried out for students who just miss out on the pass mark. We presume that these will have to be carried out by a plumbing teacher but we would have thought that an invigilator should be present to verify that no unfair advantage is being given. The problem then is that you really need someone with some sort of plumbing knowledge to ascertain this.... Kind regards Rachel Stroud Examination & Achievement Co-ordinator Wakefield College Tel: 01924 789557 ________________________________ From: The FE Exams Network mailing list [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Mandy Ogden Sent: 08 October 2004 16:03 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: CGLI 6129 Level 2 Cert in Plumbing Studies I know that Doncaster College is not the only Centre to complain about the above scheme and the fact that we are not willing to mark the scripts, but according to City and Guilds we are, and every other Centre is perfectly happy with these arrangements. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who think this is taking liberties and putting an additional burden on an already over stretched Examinations Team.
