Contract: 12 months. Closing date: Thursday 14th October 2004. Please quote reference CFL/04/26. We are seeking a systematic reviewer for a new Health Technology Assessment (HTA) funded project on the accuracy of screening procedures for non-accidental injury in children. The project seeks to determine patterns of health service use by children suffering from non-accidental injury and the accuracy of diagnostics strategies for detecting non-accidental injury. Uptake, acceptability and implications of different diagnostic procedures will be evaluated and potentially better strategies identified based on a decision analytic model. The postholder will work with a multidisciplinary team of collaborators led by Ruth Gilbert, Reader in Clinical Epidemiology, Institute of Child Health, UCL, and Brent Taylor, Professor of Community Child Health, Royal Free Hospital, UCL. The main duties of the post include searching, appraisal of diagnostic, intervention and prognostic studies, synthesising evidence and report writing. Ideally, candidates will have expertise in child abuse and systematic reviewing and a highly organised approach to their work, as well as knowledge of public health issues, good writing skills and experience of writing reviews. A postgraduate qualification in health services or epidemiology, and experience in undertaking systematic reviews or epidemiologic studies would be an advantage. Alternatively the project may be of interest to a senior overseas researcher who is interested in a secondment or sabbatical. Interested candidates are encouraged to discuss the post informally with Dr Ruth Gilbert on 020 7905 2101 <mailto:[log in to unmask]>[log in to unmask] or Prof Brent Taylor on 020 7930 2288 <mailto:[log in to unmask]>[log in to unmask] The job description and details on how to apply for the post can be obtained from <http://www.ich.ucl.ac.uk/ich/html/humanresources/jobs.html>http://www.ich.ucl.ac.uk/ich/html/humanresources/jobs.html or by sending an A4 SAE to: Human Resources, ICH, 30 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1EH.
