I'm a bit surprised at the notion that using Google is inherently a contradiction if practicing EBM.

In numerous situations Google can provide a much better job at finding evidence than PubMed, a couple of examples:

1) Grey literature - surely a key part of EBM.  I see very little of that on PubMed or any of the other EBM databases.

2) You can use Google to search PubMed and this has some interesting features that PubMed won't allow - for instance robust phrase searching.

While I wouldn't say that you should only use Google to do a search I certainly wouldn't exclude it.  EBM is about finding the best evidence via searching and appraising.  One can appraise the literature found on Google as readily as that on PubMed.
