LSC Interactive TV Project

Background

The LSC is conducting a pilot project looking at the feasibility and effectiveness of using interactive digital TV as a way of attracting and engaging adults in to learning.

In this pilot phase, the project will be aimed at improving literacy and numeracy, delivering bite-size activities, quizzes and games, as well as providing related information and signposting users on to other learning opportunities. The platforms for the pilot will be Sky and Telewest.

The Service

All the activities have been contextualised, so that users can choose topics that interest them, such as job skills, DIY, gardening, shopping, money matters, health, cooking and family matters. The pilot will run for 6 months from September 2004.

Getting Involved

If you are interested in using the service, it will be hosted on DirectGov's interactive TV channel on Sky Active (formerly UKOnline), and within the Learning section of Telewest
.
If you would like to be involved in the further development of the service, we would like to hear from tutors, learners and viewers who can give us their reactions and responses either by:

        * emailing [log in to unmask],
        * filling in the on-screen 'Tell us what you think' form on Sky or Telewest, or
        * filling in the Web form at www.e-innovationcentre.co.uk/KickstartTV/evaluation.asp

Whichever way you choose, it will only take you about five minutes and your contribution will be enormously useful in shaping the future of the KickstartTV service.
