Dear colleagues,

PUTTING E-COMMERCE IN ITS PLACE
Symposium, Wednesday, 8th September 2004 (12.00 - 5.00 pm)
School of Geography, University of Nottingham, University Park, Nottingham, NG7 2RD

You are cordially invited to attend a symposium on e-commerce hosted by the School of Geography, University of Nottingham.
Following an initial period of pronounced rhetorical inflation, there has, more recently, been a marked intellectual downgrading of the radical potential of e-commerce.
At the same time, however, the number of goods and services sold via the Internet has continued to grow, to the extent that e-commerce has now become normalised.
Presenting findings from a recent ESRC funded research project (Andrew Leyshon, University of Nottingham, Nigel Thrift, University of Oxford, Shaun French, University of Nottingham, Louise Crewe, University of Nottingham, and Pete Webb, University of Birmingham), along with papers from Andrew Murphy, University of Birmingham, and Andrew Currah, University of Cambridge, the symposium seeks to contribute to ongoing debates concerning the emerging economic geographies and economic sociologies of e-commerce.

SYMPOSIUM DETAILS:
Registration is free and includes welcome lunch.
However, places are strictly limited, so please contact Shaun French ([log in to unmask]) asap if you wish to attend.
In order to provide maximum opportunity for discussion, papers will be circulated prior to the symposium.
