Hello, I really like the reference on the ELF page about service-oriented architectures. Not sure if it is 'lay' but it certainly makes a succinct explanation of what the ELF is about. http://www.jisc.ac.uk/uploaded_documents/AltilabServiceOrientedFrameworks.pdf I think ELF 'should be' a very sustainable model for creating excellent e-learning software. I say 'should' because it depends on wide buy in from a range of people with difference skills - developers, testers, designers, students, academics...
