I got the specs wrong for the iPod microphone adapter made by Belkin. It does record with a resolution of 16 bits; not 8 bits as I stated. Thanks to Tom Speitel for pointing this out. The Belkin device allows the iPod to record uncompressed audio with a resolution of 16 bits and a sample rate of 8kHz. The iTalk made by Griffin is similar. I wonder if these specs aren't more a feature of the iPod than the microphone adapters. The Giffin site states: Recorded File Specs (iPod Specified): 8kHz, 16 bit mono WAV files
