I would have also arranged a scan, but I am a little paranoid about abd pain in early pregnancy. In fact I am paranoid about missing a HCG negative ectopic. The balance of probability is that the scan would almost certainly have shown an IUP, but an abnormal result would have completely changed management. I suppose it is a little like doing a CT/LP for all sudden onset headaches. I am not sure of the evidence base behind this approach, but ' feel sure that our radiologists would "hapily" perform this. Can you explain what you "wouldn't have" ie you wouldn't scan or you wouldn't send home without one.
