Planning Archaeologist - Ref: R187941

The Isle of Wight County Archaeology Service are looking to appoint a
Planning archaeologist to assist the County Archaeologist in providing
advice on the archaeological implications of land-based, coastal zone and
marine development on and around the Isle of Wight through the
implementation of PPG's 15, 16 and 20.

With an appropriate university degree, and ideally being a member of the
Institute of Field Archaeologists, you will have at least 2 years relevant
experience  of a range of archaeological fieldwork, post excavation and
report writing and at least 1 year's experience of the implementation of
local government planning procedures  relating to land based, coastal zone
and marine archaeology. You should have a good working knowledge of current
legislation and experience of working with computerised SMR's, databases or
GIS applications.

You must be able to handle a large workload and be committed to providing a
quality archaeological service to the public as part of a very small team.
Good communication skills, a current driving licence and the ability to make
sound decisions based on consideration of a range of issues are essential.

This permanent post is a career graded post and is offered within a local
authority scale range between LG Scale 4 (£14817- £16515) and LG Scale SO1
(£21282 - £22889) which is commensurate with previous experience and
