Dear colleagues,

we would be grateful if you could draw the attention of suitable
candidates to the following post-doctoral opportunities in the German
Department at Leeds.

In the course of the last five years, the German Department at Leeds has
developed a special focus on post-45, and especially post-1990, German
Cultural Studies. Building on a number of recent conferences, edited
volumes and monographs in this area, as well as on successful grant
applications and international projects (see: www.german.leeds.ac.uk),
we are now hoping to attract applications for the following schemes:

1. A post-doctoral position for an AHRB bid on the subject of German
Wartime Suffering, to be submitted in November 2004 and to begin, if
successful, in 2005. For further details contact Stuart Taberner
([log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> ), Paul Cooke
([log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> ) or Professor Bill
Niven of Nottingham Trent University ([log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> ). The scope and area of a Postdoctoral
Fellow's participation is to be negotiated.

2. Applications are invited for Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellowships
(www.leverhulme.org.uk/ <http://www.leverhulme.org.uk/> ) or British
Academy Early Career Fellowships (www.britac.ac.uk
<http://www.britac.ac.uk> ) in any area of post-1945 German Studies,
potentially part-funded by Leeds University. For further information
contact Professor Frank Finlay ([log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> ).

3. Applications are invited from suitably qualified German nationals for
a Feodor Lynen-Forschungsstipendium
(www.avh.de/de/programme/stip_deu/index.htm
<http://www.avh.de/de/programme/stip_deu/index.htm> ) in areas which can
be supervised by Humboldt scholars Paul Cooke
(www.german.leeds.ac.uk/staff/pc.htm
<http://www.german.leeds.ac.uk/staff/pc.htm> ) or Stuart Taberner
(www.german.leeds.ac.uk/staff/sjt.htm

with best wishes

Stuart Taberner, Paul Cooke.
