We have large 3 storey woolstaple here in Winchester (now a Marks and Spencer warehouse!), suspect its late C18, but possibly C19. Not a listed building, but it's the only survivor of an area of PM industrial activity, so I would regard it as important, at least locally. The problem is as you say, in knowing how important these things are in a regional / national context. I am assuming (not seen it yet) that this building is a wool barn used for the storage and drying of wool but if so, is the only one I can find in our area. Has anyone any information on such buildings and their age, status etc. Is it important ? Should I push the boat out on this one? Look forward to your replies.
