Dear colleagues, This is an invitation to contribute to a special 2005 issue of Health Information and Libraries Journal (HILJ). The theme is 'Supporting e- learners in healthcare' - the main focus will be on information/learning support issues related to e-learning, including both distance learning and blended learning. The issue will also include paper(s) on the topic of 'e-learning in healthcare' to set the scene from the perspective of the learning providers and perhaps of the learners themselves. Themes the special issue will explore include: *strategic developments in e-learning in the healthcare context *healthcare e-learners' experiences and perspectives *changing roles and practice of healthcare librarians in the e- learning context *new initiatives in information resource and service delivery for e- learners in healthcare, e.g. integration of digital libraries and VLEs *information literacy support/education for e-learners in healthcare, e.g. using VLEs *e-learning resources design and delivery, e.g. development of 'learning object' repositories Papers on other themes of relevance to the broad topic area will also be very welcome. If you would like to contribute to the special issue (full papers of between 2,500-5,000 words, or short communications of between 1,000-2,000 words) please send me a short, 400-500 word abstract of your proposed paper in the first instance, giving its title and a clear indication of its focus. Submissions may be review papers, research papers, case studies/evaluations of new initiatives etc. The deadline for abstracts is: Friday 30th July 2004.
