The latest meeting of the SCA was held in Aberdeen on 3rd June. As usual, the minutes will be available on the SCA website. Of particular interest to records managers who transfer records to local archive offices or provide a public search room was a report of a meeting held between Archivists in Scotland and the Scottish Information Commissioner (OSIC) regarding what constitues a public archive and what is 'reasonably obtainable'under FoI Act. Discussions are ongoing about the possibility of a guidance document. Details will be circulated when available. Members of SCA had previously submitted comments to form a response to OSIC on this matter. Other matters discussed included awareness raising and media events, the Scottish Cultural Strategy and the Scottish Public Records Strategy. It is hoped that a full consultation will take place on this last subject in the autumn of 2004 and members are encouraged to seek this out as it is likely to have ramifications for records managers in Scotland. The next meeting of the SCA is in September. Alice Stewart RMS Representative on SCA
