UNDERSTANDING DIVERSITY
19 OCTOBER 2004, LONDON
So what is diversity? What is meant by diversity? Is it the same as equal opportunities? Or is it something different? With the recommendations from the McPherson Report and the recent changes in legislation, organisations (regardless of size and location) cannot afford to ignore diversity.
This new workshop has been designed for staff to familiarise themselves with diversity concepts and issues.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
This workshop will provide participants with a working definition of diversity and increase their awareness and understanding of diversity issues. Participants will examine how policies and practices help or hinder diversity issues in their workplace.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* been given a definition of diversity
* explored their understanding of equalities and how this differs from diversity
* identified how the power of language can help or hinder the organisation embracing diversity
* knowledge of the legislation supporting diversity
* identified how their own policies, procedures and practices help or hinder diversity
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop is aimed at newly appointed staff as well as those wishing to increase their awareness and knowledge of diversity issues.
WORKSHOP LEADER: NIRVEEN CHOTAI
