5 Day Training Course:
Digital Futures Academy: from digitization to delivery
13th - 17th September 2004 at King's College London.

King's College London and OCLC-PICA are pleased to announce that in 
September 2004 the first Digital Futures Academy will be held in London.

Lasting five days, the Academy is aimed at providing intensive training and 
seminar content for managers and other practitioners from the library, 
museum, heritage and cultural sectors. Anyone looking to understand the 
strategic and management issues of developing digital resources from 
digitization to delivery should consider attending this course.

Led by experts of international renown, the Digital Futures Academy will 
focus on the creation, delivery and preservation of digital resources from 
cultural and memory institutions.

The Academy will cover the following core areas:
*       Planning and management
*       Fund raising and sustainability
*       Copyright
*       Key technical concepts
*       Creating and delivering textual resources
*       Visual and image based resource creation and delivery
*       Metadata - introduction and implementation
*       Implementing digital resources
*       Digital preservation

The Academy will aim for no more than 40 delegates and every delegate will 
have the opportunity to also spend one-to-one time with an Academy leader 
to discuss issues specific to them. The Academy will issue a certificate of 
achievement to each delegate.

The Academy leaders are:
*  Simon Tanner - Director of King's Digital Consultancy Services, King's 
College London.
*  Marilyn Deegan - Director of Research Development, Centre for Computing 
in the Humanities, King's College London.
*  Tom Clareson - Manager, Education & Planning, Digital Collection 
&  Preservation Services Division, OCLC.

The Academy leaders have over 40 years of experience in the digital realm 
between them. Other experts will be invited to speak in their areas of 
expertise.
