call for papers
5th International We-B Conference 2004
The 5th International Working For E-Business Conference 2004 (We-B 2004) will be held on
Thursday, 25th November & Friday, 26th November at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, Western
Australia.
Hosted by the We-BCentre and the School of MIS, We-B 2004 aims to provide an opportunity for
sharing and networking among academics and industry specialists in e-Business and related
fields.
c o n f e r e n c e t h e m e
The conference theme in 2004 is "Enterprise Value from e-Business" and papers are expected to
cover a wide range of relevant topics, with the conference again drawing participants from
national and international organizations.
To facilitate the organization of topics and events at the conference, it is expected that
submissions will be grouped into eight separate major tracks/streams:
» e-Business
» SME's and IT
» Education and multimedia
» e-Marketing
» e-Government
» e-Health
» e-Community and e-Markets
» Papers related to other issues in e-Business
Each track will comprise mini-tracks arranged according to submissions received and interests
expressed.

Submitted Full Papers & Case Study Submissions
Must be in English, should be typed in a single column, single-spaced format, and must adhere to
the maximum word limit of up to 5000 words by 6 August 2004.
They must include the author’s name, affiliation and e-mail address, a 200 word abstract and
keywords identifying the paper’s area.
It is essential that authors read the "Instructions for Authors" document, which can be found on
the WeB04 WebSite - http://www.we-bcentre.com/conferences/WeB04/
Research in Progress (RIP)
Individuals interested may submit research-in-progress proposals of 2500-3000 words by 6
August 2004. RIP should be typed in a single column, single-spaced format, include the author’s
name, affiliation and e-mail address.

Proposals for Discussion Panels are restricted to 1,500 words and should address timely topics
relevant to e-Business. Panel proposals should also include a general description of the panel or
issues to be debated; names and affiliations of all panel participants; a brief description of each
participant’s background, including expertise related to the topic and views of the issues; a
statement of any controversial issues that will be discussed; a description of the format of
interaction among participants and with the audience; and references, as appropriate. Each
panel will last 1.5 hours, with 3 to 4 speakers.
D o c t o r a l C o n s o r t i u m
The We-B Conference will incorporate a Doctoral Consortium for PhD students studying
Information Systems and will take place during the conference. Students should prepare an
extended abstract of their thesis plus a 15 minute Power Point presentation and are expected to
submit both before 6 August 2004 indicating that they wish to be considered for the Doctoral
Consortium.
The selection criterion for the consortium is the quality of proposal, research and the background.
The Consortium will accommodate a maximum of 15 students. Further information and

r e v i e w i n g p r o c e s s
All submitted papers will be double blind peer reviewed. In instances where a submitted paper is
accepted by one reviewer but rejected by the second, a third reviewer will asked to assess the
paper.

Papers should be submitted using the We-BCentre's 'Online Paper Submission System' (OPSS),
which will be available from mid-May 2004.

Authors are required to create a user profile and upload their paper using the interactive form
provided. Remember to fill out all relevent author and co-author information - as the OPSS is
used when creating the conference Proceedings. Authors should also indicate whether they
would like to be reviewers.
Submitted papers should be created using the Paper Template provided on the Conference
WebSite, with care given to follow the "Instructions for Authors" document.
The We-BCentre welcomes reviewers to become involved in the process of reviewing paper
submissions. Reviewers are required to create a user profile at the OPSS WebSite, indicating
their area(s) of expertise.
Please Note: Reviewers who already have a user profile because they have submitted a paper do
not have to create a separate user profile.
