ACM and Associates is holding NVivo training sessions
in San Francisco over the summer.
1. SCOPE
The summer NVivo training in San Francisco is a
one-day introductory session. At the end of the
training, a participant is expected to obtain (a) a
broad understanding of NVivo capabilities in general
and (b) a working knowledge of NVivo as a tool for
research.
2. APPROACH
The training is intensive, interactive, and hands-on.
The approach of ACM and Associates is to foster a
fundamental appreciation for the underlying logical
engine of NVivo rather than to require a simplistic
memorization of mouse-click routines.
3. DATES AND VENUE
The one-day introductory training is scheduled on each
of the following seven Saturdays: July 10, 17, 24, and
31, and August 7, 21, and 28. Additional Saturday
sessions shall be organized in due course. The venue
of the sessions is a cultural and training center in
the heart of San Francisco, a few blocks from Union
Square.
4. CLASS SIZE
Each session is limited to a maximum of 8 participants
in order to ensure quality individual instruction.

6. BACKGROUND
ACM and Associates, located in Silicon Valley, is a
start-up specialist provider of customized training on
qualitative data analysis (“QDA”) software, and has a
vision of providing professional services to entities
using QDA software for performing qualitative
research. For nearly five years, the Managing
Principal of ACM and Associates has been using QDA
software at a center for education policy studies in
California. She has also done research using QDA
software at a major research university in England.
ACM and Associates has the following key strengths: an
appreciation for qualitative research and its
challenges in both academic and professional
environments; an intimate understanding of NVivo; and
a pedagogy and philosophy for NVivo training.
