If you're looking at _Missarum Sollemnia_ in English translation, Bill, you
are looking at a text was never updated from one of his earlier editions
(2nd? ca.1950?). In the final German edition (4th? ca.1962?), published just
prior to the Council, Jungmann considerably updated and expanded several
sections, including the treatment of the Embolism. I haven't looked at that
edition in 30 years and don't have access to it here. Sorry to tell you I no
longer recall what he said there. Perhaps someone on the list does have
access to that edition and can comment further on what Jungmann says on the
history.
