medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Two recent changes announced in our diocese:
the congregation, formerly seated, now stand for the "Pray, my sisters and brothers, etc..."; and one bows slightly before taking communion. RE: the latter practice - some people, in the interest of saving time I suppose, "jump the gun" and bow as the person ahead of them is receiving the Eucharist, thus reverencing the back of the person ahead in line.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is on line and perhaps the answers to the "holy sacrifice of the Mass" may be found therein. I'll give it a look later unless someone finds something first.
