Colleagues

Many of you will know that Scottish Addiction Studies at the University of
Stirling has been offering on-line courses in the Addictions field since
1996.

As we have done each year since then, we have spent some time revising the
content of our courses in response to tutor experience and student
evaluations.  Courses available from September 2004 include:

University Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Studies - an undergraduate course
for staff in the drug/alcohol misuse field and related professions.  Rated
at 22 Credits - Level 10 (SCQF).  Fees for 2004/2005 have been set at
£730.00.  The course comprises two units with Unit 1 being the prerequisite
for Unit 2.  Units may be studied part-time over one or two years.

Drugs, Alcohol and Nursing - an undergraduate course for nurses and
midwives.  Rated at 22 Credits - Level 9 (SCQF).  Fees for 2004/2005 have
been set at £600.00.  The course comprises two units with Unit 1 being the
prerequisite for Unit 2.  Units may be studied part-time over one or two
years.

European Studies in Substance Abuse - a postgraduate course for staff in the
drug/alcohol misuse field and related professions.  This course is offered
in collaboration with colleagues in Universiteit Gent (Belgium), University
of Aarhus (Denmark) and University of Maastricht (the Netherlands).  Rated
at 60 Credits - Level 11 (SCQF).  Fees for 2004/2005 have been set at 1000
euro.  The course comprises two units with Unit 1 being the prerequisite for
Unit 2.  As with our undergraduate courses, the taught component of this
course can now be studied entirely on-line.  Units may be studied part-time
over one or two years.
