Thank you to members from medlib, canmedlib, evidence-based health, mla-ebhc, evidence-based-libraries, lis-nursing, and nahrs. :) I can't tell you how much I value your input! Here is the summary as promised: * A new book to look for is Users' Guides to the Nursing Literature, edited by Alba DiCenso. This is being published by AMA Press and is due to be released in October 2005. Gordon Guyatt, Rob Hayward, Mark Wilson, Scott Richardson are acting as advisors / editors and writers for many of the chapters. [This is by the same group that wrote, Users' Guides to the Medical Literature: A Manual..., which is a fantastic book. I personally look forward to reading this one!--Tanya] * For professionals, when I research I usually have a lot of requests for Nursing Science Quarterly and Journal of Transcultural Nursing. * I like Evidence Based Nursing Online (http://ebn.bmjjournals.com/), the new Worldviews on Evidence Based Nursing that "replaced" the Online Journal of Knowledge Syntheses for Nursing (http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/wvn), and at the risk of appearing self-promotional, our Evidence-Based Practice Resource Center (http://onsopcontent.ons.org/toolkits/ebp/index.htm) I frequently use the February 2002 issue of Seminars in Oncology Nursing -- "Evidence-Based Practice in Cancer Nursing" and the 12 articles therein -- but this is of course more specific to my subspecialty of interest (as is some but not all of the aforementioned Practice Resource Center). * Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/issue.asp?ref=1545-102X&vid=1&iid=1&oc=&s=&site=1 This new journal began in March * Our web, www.mebe.org was not originally designed for EBN, but there are some interesting links for you in Dispatch and in RMD (Medical Regulation). * http://www.muhc-ebn.mcgill.ca/ http://www.muhc-ebn.mcgill.ca/index.html * 'Teaching & Learning Resources for Evidence Based Practice' http://www.mdx.ac.uk/www/rctsh/ebp/main.htm * Here is a Nursing Resources page from VCU that has an EBN section, written by Jodi Koste. http://www.library.vcu.edu/tml/bibs/nursing.html#evidence * www.evidencebasednursing.com - abstract journal similar to ACP Journal Club and EBM * The EBN resources featured at the Evidence-Based Nursing Practice symposium at MLA in San Diego are in one of my presentations on the symposium website, http://nahrs.library.kent.edu/resource/symposium/. See Electronic full-text for nursing: books, journals, virtual libraries, http://nahrs.library.kent.edu/resource/symposium/#fulltext. Also, see the PDA presentation and others on the symposium website. One of the best - and most overlooked - EBN resources is the Online Journal of Clinical Innovations, which includes integrative reviews with practice recommendations. Please ask for a preview at the CINAHL exhibit; hard copies are usually on display. For more of my favorite web resources, see the Evidence-Based Nursing links in the CE section on my business website, http://www.pegallen.net Some links need updating, but I'm far too busy this month to fix until after MLA. "Finding the Best Evidences for Evidence Based Nursing" is still available as a 4 or 6 hour MLA CE course - please write or call if a local group would like to present. It can be modified for specific nursing/librarian audiences, such as nurse administrators or educators at (or invited to) a joint meeting with librarians. We've submitted a new nursing/allied health expert searching course proposal to MLA for 2005. * Clinical Evidence - BMJ publication - web and paper based - updated every 6-months [Recommended by several people.] http://www.hta.nhsweb.nhs.uk/ - NHSHTA - numerous systematic reviews of interest to nursing http://www.sign.ac.uk/ - clinical guidelines - see also www.nzgg.org.nz Portal site - http://www.muhealth.org/~library/docs/AlperMU.html http://www.shef.ac.uk/scharr/ir/netting/ - very good website from Andrew Booth at School of Health and Related Research http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/ - Bandolier - huge resource (see extra eessays for instance).
