medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

To friends and participants of the Philadelphia Seminar on Christian Origins:

Please take note of the date: the next session of PSCO 41 is scheduled for
Thursday evening, 15 April, here at UPenn (7-9 pm). The focus will be on
traditions about Mary, Jesus' mother, in the west and the east, with Ann Matter
(Penn) and Vasiliki Limberis (Temple) leading the discussion. Suggested readings
and other details will follow.

So finish your tax reports, and come along! Or you can take an "incomplete"
(extension) on the IRS stuff.

This may be the last PSCO session for this academic year. If you have suggestions
for the coming year (2004-2005) -- including attention to organization and
leadership -- please let me know.

--Howard Kee has mentioned exploring connections between early Christianity and
Stoic thought.

--There has also been some interest in pursuing areas often labelled "magic" and
"astrology."

--And a project to update Harnack's Mission and Expansion of Christianity in the
first Three Centuries, taking account of his 1924 revisions as well as new
developments, has appeal (and is already underway) -- similar to the Bauer
project three decades ago!

Feel free to add your "ETC."

Bob
