British girl named Diot
Coke in 1379
Associated Press
LONDON - Naming your child after a popular soft drink could
be seen as a little bit faddish, but the parents of young Diot
Coke might be forgiven - they gave their baby daughter the
name way back in 1379.
Researchers at Britain's National Archives believe that the little
girl, born in West Riding in Yorkshire, was the unfortunate
victim of the corruption of the name Dionisia. One of the
diminutives derived from that name on its path to the modern
day Denise was Diot.

BAE's secret vault in Geneva
uncovered
Papers 'moved out of reach of the law'
David Leigh and Rob Evans
Monday March 8, 2004
The Guardian
The Guardian has discovered a secret vault in Switzerland, where BAE,
Britain's largest arms company, is alleged to have hidden filing cabinets full
of evidence of covert payments to foreign politicians.
Allegations of corruption surrounding BAE's arms sales around the world
have been frequently made, but this is the first concrete information that the
firm, a large British public company with intimate relations with the Blair
government, may be deliberately concealing evidence outside the jurisdiction
of its own legal authorities, exploiting Switzerland's secrecy rules.
