This representation of Christ as the 'sun god' is very interesting and reflects a scriptural association with Christ as the rising sun. May I refer the curious reader to my own series in this list on Ambrose's hymn, Splendor Paternae Gloriae, which began on 1st January 2001. You may well wish to look at my remarks on 'O Oriens' and 'O Sol Justiciae' in my series on the Great O antiphons, a year or two earlier - you will find it, I'm sure, in the archive.
