[Apologies for cross-posting] As you probably know, Regard is the free online research service of the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), detailing research projects and publications, and holding full text reports. This includes much that would be of interest to Disability-Research members. There have been some major recent developments on Regard.. Newswire: If you need to know about ESRC research that is topical, just starting or just finishing, then sign up to the monthly Regard email newswire. A link from the front page takes you to a simple sign-up where you can pick from the 16 disciplines used by ESRC. OpenURLs: Bibliographic information is fine, but the actual item is better, be it a full text article or a book. Regard is introducing OpenURLs to many of its most popular records, enabling users to go straight to the full text (if it is available online) or, if it is a book, to the appropriate page in Amazon, to read reviews and perhaps order a copy. Topic search Every day, Regard features a major news story on the front page, and links from it to relevant ESRC research. Over the years, Regard has built up an archive of over 250 regular news topics, which we have now compiled into an A-Z index, which should prove invaluable to those needing to get behind the headlines. (Relevant examples might include Disability, Disability service provision, Transport and the Digital divide.) Regard is freely available at http://www.regard.ac.uk/ Best wishes Neil ---------------------- Dr Neil Jacobs Manager, Regard Institute for Learning and Research Technology University of Bristol 8-10 Berkeley Square Bristol, BS8 1HH, UK phone: +44 (0)117 9287057 fax: +44 (0)117 9287112 email: [log in to unmask] ________________End of message______________________ Archives and tools for the Disability-Research Discussion List are now located at: www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/disability-research.html You can JOIN or LEAVE the list from this web page.
