TUSCANY WEEK AT LEICESTER 

The Centre of Tuscan Studies, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and the School of Modern Languages, brings you a week of Tuscan-themed activities.


Monday 16 February, 1715

Degree Ceremony: The granting of an honorary D. Litt. to 
Riccardo Nencini, President of the Regional Council of Tuscany 
To be followed by the: 
Annual Lecture of the Centre for Tuscan Studies, delivered by Riccardo Nencini, 
on the subject of Tuscany from the Middle Ages and Renaissance to the Modern Age; and by a 
Reception (Charles Wilson Building, Fifth Floor), featuring entertainment by the 
University of Leicester Italian Chorus, conducted by Prof. Maurizio Morgantini 
(Musical Director of the Coro Santa Barbara, Massa Marittima, Tuscany) 


Wednesday 18 February, 1645

Lecture by Dr Joanna Cannon (Reader, Courtauld Institute of Art): 
Moving Remains: Late medieval burials, reburials, and shrines of holy 
people in the Dominican churches of central Italy 
(This is a part of the School of Modern Languages Research Seminar Series).

A screening of the film The Night of the Shooting Stars (La notte di San Lorenzo), made by the Taviani brothers. In Italian with English subtitles.
