best volume on Anglo-Saxon shrines and saints relics is probably David
Rollason's Saints and Relics in Anglo-Saxon England (Oxford - 1989). For an
excellent and comprehensive overview of relics in early medieval Western
Europe see the papers in Thacker, A. and Sharpe, R. (eds) 2002. Local
Saints and Local Churches in the Early Medieval West - including Alan Thacker,
John Blair and Richard Sharpe on Anglo-Saxon England, Ian Wood and John Crook on
France and Nancy Edwards, and Oliver Padel on Western Britain, Wales and
Ireland. Also essential reading is John Crook's The Architectural Setting of the
Cult of Saints in the Early Christian West (Oxford, 2000)

I'm also a student who's interested in the cult of relics. Geary's
Furta Sacra is mainly about the periods after 9c. Could anyone
please suggest me some readings about earlier periods, esp. Merovingian
and Carolingian Europe, and early Anglo-Saxon England?
