Apologies for cross posting. The NoWAL (North West Academic Libraries) programme of staff training and development for April-June 2004 is now available. Highlights for April - June 2004 include 06/05/2004 Project management Time - 10.00 - 16.30 Venue - Room 346, Manchester Business School Tutors - Deborah Dalley Alison MacKenzie Jayne Everard Cost - £90 (attendees external to NoWAL) This course is divided into 2 sections. The morning session will be a practical workshop, led by Deborah Dalley. The afternoon session will consist of 2 speakers talking about their own personal experiences of managing projects. The overall aim of the course is to give participants the skills to plan, organise and control activities in order to manage projects and their time successfully. 19/05/2004 Working smarter: Information literacy outside the library Time - 14.00 - 15.30 Venue - The Seminar Rooms, Aquinas Building, Aldham Robarts LRC. Liverpool JM Speakers - Alison MacKenzie Louise Makin Cost - £15 (attendees external to NoWAL) This session will present an overview of the research and key findings from the JISC funded project Big Blue connect which surveyed information use by academic, administrative and technical staff working in further and higher education institutions. The session will also give participants the opportunity to discuss the role an institution's library service might play in developing the information skills of all staff working in their institution. 28/05/2004 Enquiry desk skills Time - 10.00 - 13.00 Venue - Room CR2, Crewe Site Library, MMU Tutor - Rachel Beckett Cost - £45 (attendees external to NoWAL) This course provides a introduction to enquiry answering techniques. It will take participants through the stages of the enquiry process. Consideration will also be given to the interpersonal skills of successful enquiry work. The course will be useful to staff new to the enquiry desk and those interested in refreshing their enquiry skills.
