Pacific Rim Conference on Disabilities 20th Anniversary, March 29-30. 2004

Join us in beautiful, sunny Hawai‘i in March to celebrate a special event
and milestone---the 20th Anniversary of the Annual Pacific Rim
Conference! In recognition of this special occasion, the Honorable Daniel
K. Inouye, Hawai‘i’s senior senator, has agreed to serve as the honorary
chairman of PacRim 2004. Since the first Pacific Rim Conference in 1985,
the scope and size of this premier event has grown to include participants
from the U.S. Mainland, Pacific Island Nations, Japan, Australia, the
Philippines and numerous other countries.

PacRim 2004 brings together researchers, professionals, persons with
disabilities, family members, and students in a variety of disciplines that
include health, education, social services and others. Presenters
represent a variety of disciplines – including health, medicine, social
science and the disability field

This year’s theme, “Promises to Keep, Futures to Seek”, reflects on the
promises and goals made and the opportunities created for persons with
disabilities.

PacRim 2004 conference focuses on topics of importance and current trends
to the Pacific Rim area. Strands reflect changing perspectives on
disabilities from building communities to valuing diversity and support for
all persons. Pac Rim 2004 strand topics include Lifelong Inclusion in
Education and Community; Technology Across the Ages; Parent Partnerships
and Family Supports; Employment and Adult Services; and Body, Mind and Spirit.

We are pleased to announce that the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye, the third
most senior member of the U.S. Senate, has agreed to serve as the Honorary
