Hi,

Just a quick query regarding geographies of the state in Britian and
Ireland from the early modern period to the nineteenth century - does
anyone know of geographers who have been doing any work on state formation
and historical geography recently? My own research looks at the
relationship between the State and locality in early 19th century Ireland
and how the relationshop was modulated and codified by postal
communications producing disticntive geogrpahies of power and control. I
have been using Michael Mann's work on the development of the nation state
and have been reading some of Felix Driver and Ruth Fincher's work on
territory and the state. I was wondering if anyone might have any
suggestions as who(if anyone) had been working in the same approximate
area lately?

Thanks in advance
