Thankyou, Philip/NLS - the first (and hitherto only) respondent! Of course this atlas - which I saw on COPAC, I believe - isn't quite "about 1m50 wide by whatever length, on a spring roller" (still less, on a spring roll); but I take your point about a possible origin of the base-map used for the individual plates. If I had the time to follow this up with the publisher and/or designer . . . It looks as if the BTA item would be the only viable option. It contains an A3 sized map with locations to the main British authors of the past and present. The second is an atlas called " A literary atlas & gazetteer of the British Isles" by Michael Hardwick, Cartography by Alan G. Hodgkiss, pub. by David & Charles, 1973 (ISBN 0715359231). This contains maps showing areas connected with literary people no longer living at the time of publication, based on the 10-mile OS series with gazetteers arranged by groups of counties. ( I am not sure if a complete map was made for this work, or if it is available?) Philip Woodhall Map Library National Library of Scotland 33 Salisbury Place EDINBURGH, EH9 1SL. Scotland. This would cross historic literary names, places and events with geography. Dimensions would be up to about 1m50 wide by whatever length, on a spring roller, so that it would take up minimal space in the classroom when not in use. Any ideas on this specific map?" Searching COPAC reveals such things published - some in USA! - up to and including 1929. Has anybody knowledge of non-COPACed items?
