Agenda
- Vashti Zarach, SIG Coordinator, will give an introduction and
update.
- Michael Aherne of Reid Kerr
College (a Scottish FE college) will be talking about developing a
standard for course identifiers.
- Jon Rowett of Brockenhurst
College (an FE college from the New Forest in England) will be giving
an update on Emily, the MLE at Brockenhurst. Jon gave a presentation on Emily
at an earlier SIG meeting, which Brockenhurst hosted.
- Tom Franklin will be giving a talk on outcomes of the JISC SWANI
Interoperability Pilots Programme, which investigated systems
integration in FE colleges in Scotland and Wales.
- We also have reports from the JISC SHELL and NIIMLE Projects, which
were funded by Phase 1 of the MLEs for Lifelong Learning Programme to build
cross-institutional MLEs. NIIMLE is based in Northern Ireland, and SHELL in
South-West England:
- Greg McClure and Davey O’Hare from the NIIMLE Project (Northern Ireland
Integrated Managed Learning Environment) will be reporting on the NIIMLE
Project. Area covered will include the background to the project, technical
architecture (including Enterprise Web Services), experiences using Enterprise
Web Services, uPortal, and general experiences and issues.
- Terry Rourke and Dave Croot from the SHELL
Project will also be presenting. Terry will talk about the use of
ioNodes for data transport, and Dave will be talking about transferring
learner records between PDP systems.
