Dear David, What you call "spatio-temporal map" or has been called "distorted graphic" in this thread is known as "cartogram": a map distorted according to a specific variable. http://www.csiss.org/classics/archive/cartogram.html http://go.owu.edu/~jbkrygie/krygier_html/geog_353/geog_353_lo/geog_353_lo11.html Try googling under "cartogram" and you will find plenty of information and resources. There are recurrent discussions on this subject in GIS groups and Danny Dorling is definitely a reference on this matter. So far cartograms don't seem to be a feature of GIS software, maybe because GIS software aims for geographic accuracy and these maps play with geographic distortion... But this tool seems to do the trick: http://www.mapresso.com/ regards, Jorge Gil -----Original Message----- From: David Bissell [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: 29 November 2004 20:33 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Spatio-temporal map of U.K. Hi, I'd be v. appreciative if someone could direct me to where i might find a spatio-temporal map of the U.K. - ie. one showing the relative distorted positions of places according to (road or preferrably rail) travel time. Have googled/combed many a journal but to no avail!
