Haven't I seen some more
intelligent use of crime statistics when it comes to rape reporting?
More rapes reported means
police aren't quite so intimidating.
However this then produces a
lower rate of rape convictions.
(probably because the courts
are the real bastions of male hegemony - using adversarial advocacy to undermine
any benefits of increased reporting).
