The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is the UK's principal funder of basic and strategic biological research.

 

ASSISTANT MEDIA OFFICER

Salary £17,100 - £19,500 * Swindon

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Media Officer within our External Relations Unit. Together with BBSRC's Media Officer, you will be required to draft press releases, clear material for release, distribute to the media and monitor coverage. You will also support the BBSRC Web Officer in keeping our site topical and developing its media and corporate communication.

Educated to degree level in science, or with a degree in science communication or journalism, you will have experience of working either in a similar role or in the media itself. As such, you will understand how the media work, the basic procedures in a press office and ways of monitoring and evaluating media campaigns, and the basics of website structure and functionality. Salary £21,700 - £25,200 * Swindon

We are also seeking an enthusiastic science communicator to work on exciting new projects that take BBSRC science to the public through interactive exhibitions and other public events. (Ref: JRU4/04)
