Einstein Year Public Relations Officer, Institute of Physics

Einstein Year begins in January 2005 and is part of International Year of Physics – a world-wide celebration of physics and its applications to mark the centenary of the publication of Einstein’s three most famous theories. The Institute of Physics has an extensive programme of activities in place for the Year and now seeks an enthusiastic and innovative PR officer with excellent communications skills to join its public relations team on a one-year contract as Einstein Year Public Relations Officer.

Working with colleagues and members and alongside PR professionals for specific events within the Year, the successful candidate will promote Einstein Year and physics through electronic, broadcast and print media and other public relations activities directed towards the key audiences for Einstein Year – young people and their influencers.

Applicants must have excellent writing skills and knowledge and practical experience of wide-ranging PR techniques including event organisation. Experience of working in PR, marketing or media relations is essential, ideally on science-related projects for young audiences; experience of working with member-based or similar organisations is desirable.

Salary c£26,000 plus benefits. Start date as soon as possible in 2005.
