Science on the move: Mobile Exhibit Projects

As a joint initiative of ASTC and ECSITE, Technopolis, the Flemish Science Centre,  will host the first "Roundtable for the Advancement of the Profession" (RAP) in Europe. The subject of this RAP is "Mobile Exhibit Projects". Technopolis is located in Mechelen, 10 min from Brussels International Airport.

Science centres are expanding their outreach activities, one of the ways of doing this is by creating and operating Mobile Exhibit Projects (or MEP's). In recent years: science trucks, science vans, science busses and science boats or groups of easy to transport exhibits were created and are touring around going to schools, families, or other specific target groups.

This RAP will be an interactive workshop where participants will share experience and ideas related to MEP's. The following topics will be covered:

-        how to start with a Mobile Exhibit Project
-        benefits of MEP's
-        examples of successful projects
-        budget (investment and operational)
-        exhibits
-        marketing
-        operations
-        staff
-        target groups
-        evaluation
-        ….
Participants will get the opportunity to present their new or existing projects and discuss them with their colleagues. Everyone is encouraged to bring materials to share and start discussions: pictures, sketches, scenario's,… from projects which already exist as well as the first rough sketches from your brand new project.

As well those with lots of experience with MEP's as those new to the field will find the workshop useful.
