Dear anna.

i think there are many like us. jean for one. anne harriss did reply, she
stated and i quote " .......with regard to your BSc certificate from
London South Bank Uni. Please contact our administrator for the programme
Kiernan Roche 0207 815 8012. He can advise you who to speak to re
certificates."

She also stated that it is important that we check with the NMC that they
have been informed of our qualification. i think that perhaps april was a
bit early for them to have been informed as it didn't go to the SBU board
until march.

Anne did also reply off list, and explained what had happened. i think we
need to ring the NMC in order to check that our qualifications are
registered. If they are not i will contact SBU and ask for all the
necessary paperwork in order to do it myself - but lets not get to anxious
yet, from what anne said we should be registered.

Dear Becky - I am in exactly the same position and have emailed (now twice)
Anisa Salim at SBU. Having graduated in Feb.04 I have not received anything
from SBU. I rang NMC back in April and they said they had not been informed
about my BSc. Like you I am now getting very anxious about the situation
and I don't know where to go from here.

Subject: Re: New Part of the NMC register important info for OHNs

Dear All Students of SouthBank University & Lecturers etc

I notice Anne that you write we have to record our specialist qualification
to be entered on the third part of the register - obvioulsy quite rightly
so. However, i am now very converned as i have recieved NO certificate or
paperwork regarding my qualification. I have spoken to another student who
was told that all the certificates were sent our registered post.

Can i please encourage all students who have not recieved the necessary
paperwork to contact the university urgently, it would be very sad to have
worked so hard then not have your qualification recognised. According to
Anne we have to register before Aug - time is running out.

By the way, is there anybody else out there in the same position as myself?
i would be interested to know who has not recieved the paperwork, if they
all went out reistered post as South Bank states, something somewhere has
gone terribly wrong. .............again.

Some news from the NMC which follows on from the specialist practitioner
debate of a few months ago.

The OHNs on the list may be aware of the consultation exercise undertaken by
the NMC re the third part of their register. I have recently been involved
in working with them regarding whether OHNs should be included on the third
part of the register.

You may be interested to know that from August 2004 all OH nurses who have
recorded their specialist OHN qualification ie those with OHNC; OHND or BSc
in OH Nursing will, in addition to their existing registration(s) be
automatically registered on the new third part of the register which is for
community public health nurses. There will be an annotation next to their
name on that register indicating that their professional back ground is OH
Nursing. Other professional groups will include ! ! HV's and school nurses.

Unfortunately there is nothing as yet on the NMC web site.
