This has been about  for some time and includes things such as having - zoomtex - or voice activation - ability to change font or background colour and size etc ..these options should available to individuals on their PC.  The PC's being obtained by companies now tend to have facilities built in but if a person needs the softwear this can easily be purchassed and installed. Your 'IT' dept will need to check it first to make sure its compatable with your company softwear.  
 
Its also a good idea for your IT department to be aware of individuals who have specialist softwear (with the individuals consent) so that when they undertake upgrades  and virus checks the specialist softwear can be included.

I have recieved a query from our IT Department in regard to this email she received today, could anybody shed any light on this and how it may effect our DSE Assessments.

"You may or may not be aware but a new government legislation came into force which means all forms of web based communications must be compliant with DDA (Disabilities Discrimination Act). This has a direct impact on employee portals and corporate intranets as they can be hostile environments for the disabled and blind. Failure to comply with this legislation has and will result in legal action being taken against organisations that are unaware of their negligence."
