More to the point - disclosure when requested with appropriate consent is
actually a legal requirement under the Woolf reforms for claims management.

If someone consents to the release of the entire records then you do exactly
that. It is not for "you" to determine what is or is not relevant in the
case. That is why solicitors exist...and probably why they charge so much.

        Subject: Release of Medical information

Could anyone be kind enough to offer advice.

Our department presently holds medical records for all the UK employees who
have retired from the company. From time to time, I have requests from
solicitors for release of medical information. They send over a consent
form, asking for a complete copy of the medical records.

My question is: I do not have details of what the claim is about - only a
form requesting for release of medical records. Is it OK that I am sending
a complete copy of their medical records to the solicitors i.e. not
information solely relating to the claim?

I would be really grateful for your views on this

Sharon Jones
