Position Vacant
Deputy Director: Programmes Manager/Senior Curator

This is a special opportunity to join a closely-knit team and make a
key contribution to an organisation which has placed Wellington and New
Zealand firmly on the international map.

City Gallery Wellington has a reputation for groundbreaking and
innovative exhibitions and publications - presenting New Zealand
artists alongside major international figures.

We are looking for someone to join the Gallery’s senior management
team to manage the Gallery’s exhibition, publication and education
programmes. In this role you will also curate selected exhibitions and
write for catalogue publications. You will work closely with the
Director planning the exhibition, publication and research programmes
and developing programme budgets. High energy levels and motivation are
essential, and we’ll look forward to benefiting from your innovative

You’ll deal with a wide variety of people in this role, including
Gallery staff, artists, arts professionals, arts institutions,
collectors, related organisations and professionals, so you will need
excellent communication skills. You will enjoy motivating your team and
help them develop in their roles.

Managing programme budgets is an essential part of this role, so
financial and project management skills and experience is important.

You will have experience in an art institution at a senior level. A
proven curatorial and publishing track record is essential. You will
also have demonstrated team leadership ability.
