The Public seeks applications for the post of:

MARCEL Resource Researcher (part-time, 0.5)

Salary: £18,000 - £25,000 p.a. pro rata depending on experience. 

In 2005 The Public, a BAFTA award winning company based in West Bromwich, will open the doors to the largest community arts development in Europe.  The Public Building, designed by Alsop Architects will bring a whole new focus to the town and the region. It will allow us to expand and develop our work with people; building on the experience and expertise we have gained through 30 years of engaging with communities throughout the region, the country and overseas. 

Advantage West Midlands approved The Public ambitious and innovative SICE (Social Inclusion to the Creative Economy) project application in November 2002, supporting a three year programme of training, learning and work based development opportunities for local artists, small scale creative businesses and those seeking employment within the creative industries. The project aims is to create a forum of trans-national research and development in collaboration with the MARCEL network (please visit www.mmmarcel.org for more information about the network)

You will need to be a dynamic individual who is flexible, well organised and self-motivated. You will work in conjunction with the MARCEL project manager as part of a small team. Experience of the digital contemporary arts sector and an enthusiasm for new technologies are essential.  

Reporting to the MARCEL project manager, you will research, build, develop and maintain a MARCEL online database of local, national and international digital media research and development material and information.  Also you will provide supported access to the MARCEL portal and resources for SICE participants. Working alongside the Artistic Coordinators within The Public Arts Programme and in partnership with other MARCEL members, you will generate, facilitate and supporting online multimedia creative projects.
