Dear List, I would like to introduce you to pylon, a pilot project initiated to support the development and distribution of work by 3 individual new media installation artists. As an alternative to gallery representation, pylon seeks to explore new possibilities for critical engagement and professional development in order to raise the profile of its member artists. pylon artists Andy Gracie, Jen Southern and Steve Symons, along with myself as Project Development Manager, have been working together for nearly a year and bring together a broad base of expertise and resources which are employed to promote their practice to a wider audience and facilitate new opportunities for exhibition and critical dialogue. By operating as a small network of individual artists, pylon enables a collective approach to marketing, research and networking, without compromising the identity or integrity of each solo practice.
