Exactly. This is brilliant, and spot on. One of the key uses, if not _the_ key use of taxonomical location is control/power. I also believe in part is that once taxonomies begin to settle in, the truly avant-garde begin to move on. And yes, I do believe that the avant-garde still exists, and has not really waned much since its rise at the fin de siecle. Its modality has merely changed.
