the consensus of opinion appears to agree with the opinion that a building lost is gone forever and I am swayed to agree. However if it is altered out of all recognition it is lost to all intense and purpose. It would be nice to have some form of recognition for this old building, a monument to the industry that built the locality. The fact of the danger of the disused shaft remains for the poor unsuspecting vendor. At least it is a liability at worst a death trap on which the post man will daily stand to deliver letters or even the new home for the now almost obligatory conservatory. Clive
