I believe Frances was redeveloped in the late 1930's and if the
headframe is the one with a vertical arrangement of the wheels
(horrals?) then my information suggests it dates from then.Other
collieries with similar headframes,but not necessarily the same,
include several big South Yorkshire mines-only one headframe of
that sort at each--any reason why?-and Ireland in N. Derbyshire.
