The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin, announces four postdoctoral fellowships (two years, with the possibility of a further one-year renewal) in conjunction with a research project on “The History of Scientific Observation” (see http://www.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/DeptII_observation/DeptII_Da_observation.html for a description) organized by Lorraine Daston and Fernando Vidal.
Fellowships are open to outstanding junior scholars of all nationalities with Ph.D. degrees awarded after 1 January 2003 and before the commencement of the fellowship on 1 September 2005. The project encompasses the history of both the natural and the human sciences, and will include scholars with diverse disciplinary backgrounds.
Applicants are invited to submit a curriculum vitae (including list of publications), two letters of recommendation (which may be sent under separate cover by the referees), and a brief (maximum 750 words) research project description
